So… did you watch the Oscars? I’m a sucker for this show, so much so that the post I intended to put up on Sunday is only just now going up. I had the popcorn ready, posted on Instagram with the promise of a recipe and everything, and then…
1. The dresses! Then…
2. The opening number! Then…
3. The Xfinity commercial that made me a little weepy!
4. Patricia Arquette said things I like! Then…
Then a bunch of other stuff. I don’t know, all that and it wasn’t may favorite Oscars. That magic trick had me pulling my hair out. Just get to the GD winner already, Neil! Read the card!
Anyhoo, I surely did enjoy my popcorn, which was right on the money, even if my predictions were not. It’s been an off season, ever since The Lego Movie didn’t make the cut (WTF, Academy?!?!?)
Maybe not better the second (or third day), but certainly delicious in the way that might make one bloggy type like myself gorge on one batch, then immediately make plans to make again later in the week is this recipe for…
1/2 cup popcorn (unpopped)
1 Tbsp olive oil
3/4 stick (6 Tbsp) unsalted butter
4 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
A pinch of red pepper flakes
Salt, to taste
Coarse black pepper, to taste
Zest and juice of 1/2 a lemon
2 Tbsp. fresh parsley, finely chopped
1/4 c. finely grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Pop that popcorn with the olive oil. You know what to do. Throw it into a big paper bag.
Combine the butter, garlic, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper in a small saute pan and cook gently until the garlic gets tender. Add the zest and juice and cook for another minute.
Pour evenly onto the popcorn, add the parsley and parmesan, roll up the bag, and shake vigorously to evenly distribute.
Eat, lick fingers, repeat.
